Clinical Practice

Dr Kitson is a Director and Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Clinical Psychology Collective. She is HCPC registered and is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. She is also a member of the Association of Clinical Psychologists.

As well as a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Michelle also holds a MSc in Psychological Therapy in Primary Care, and has over a 12 years of experience working as a clinician across various settings.

Michelle has specialised in working with people who have experienced adverse events and trauma in their lives, whether this be in childhood or adulthood. She uses a variety of trauma informed approaches; including trauma focused cognitive behavioural therapy and Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing, and delivers training in phased based treatments for complex trauma. In addition, she has a wealth of experience working with people who have anxiety disorders such as OCD; social anxiety; panic attacks; phobias and health anxiety. Michelle also has an interest in working with people who are affected by low self esteem or self worth and has completed significant post graduate training in compassion focused approaches. She is also highly experienced in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment for learning disabilities in both adults and children.

Michelle particularly enjoys supporting other professionals through the provision of consultation, clinical supervision and training.  She is a competent and thoughtful supervisor and can offer excellent references from previous supervisees upon request.

Therapeutic Approach

Michelle uses her warm and accepting style to create a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship in order to explore the various things that bring people to therapy. She aims to deliver the highest standards of care and is passionate about creating a validating and transformative experience for all of her clients.
