Clinical Practice

Dr. Nunn is a Director and Senior Clinical Psychologist at the Clinical Psychology Collective. She is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). Katherine has over 10 years experience working  clinically in the NHS across various  inpatient and community mental health  and forensic mental health services. She has specialised in working with people who experience severe and enduring mental health difficulties, often within the context of  adverse life events and trauma. She uses a number of approaches to target these difficulties therapeutically, including cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion focussed therapy and aspects of cognitive analytic therapy.  She utilises specialist trauma informed approaches; trauma focused cognitive behavioural therapy and Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition, Katherine has accrued a wealth of experience working with adults living with grief, depression, insomnia and anxiety disorders.

Katherine also has an interest in working with individuals, carers and family members who are affected by distress within the context of dementia. She has significant experience in managing distress behaviour (or challenging behaviour) within dementia and has delivered training to  both NHS and care home staff on the related Newcastle Model.

Katherine offers support to professionals through the provision of consultation, clinical supervision and training.

Therapeutic Approach

Katherine recognises the importance of developing a safe and trusting space in therapy. She adopts a flexible,  open and supportive style working collaboratively with clients to help them develop a shared understanding of their difficulties and life experiences. By carefully selecting a tailored, person-centred approach, Katherine supports people to identify areas for change and development. Her passion is to provide the highest standard of care and clinical practice, whilst supporting the achievement of improved functioning and wellbeing in a meaningful way for each individual client.
